Accommodation

Comfortable and clean accommodation is one of the most important aspects of a visit to another country. It is vitally important that the student feels relaxed and safe!

 

We also want to be sure that the student is welcomed into the family home and is able to join the everyday life of the family, should they so choose. Living with a family is especially beneficial, as the student has the opportunity to practice English (and also Afrikaans) in the family environment and can experience a taste of the local way of life.

 

We select our families and accommodation carefully and make regular inspections to be sure that the students experience meets our high standards. Accommodation is always within reasonable distance of the college, as the towns are small and getting around is relatively easy.

 

At STUDY AND TRAVEL SOUTH AFRICA, we offer students a choice of two types of accommodation:

 

Accommodation Type 1 – Includes meals
	In this type of homestay, a student has their own separate room which would include: a bed, desk, lamp and cupboards and television, as well as a telephone line for I.T. connections.   The student takes breakfast and dinner with the family but is responsible for their own lunch and may or may not share toilet and bathroom facilities with the family.

 

Accommodation Type 2 – Excludes meals
	A student who chooses this type of homestay is not provided with any meals and is completely self-sufficient and responsible for all their own meals.   The student's room would have a bed, desk, lamp, cupboards and a television and a telephone line for I.T. connections and may or may not share bathroom facilities with the family.

 

It is important to note the following:

- South African Family life is a close-knit affair and a certain amount of respect and good manners are required.
- A curfew of 24h00 will be implemented during week nights and weekends will be 02h00.
- The student will have the option of “booking out” for a weekend if they know that they will not be home on time or should they wish to stay with friends or go traveling.
